The 46th annual Downtown Partnership of Baltimore Monument Lighting took place last Thursday, December 7, 2017, in Mount Vernon Place. The annual tradition occurred on an evening where the Mount Vernon Place Conservancy was able to showcase their work at the recently restored and award-winning Washington Monument! There were 84 strands of lights on the monument. Each one contained 200 energy sufficient light emitting diodes for a total of 16,800 LED lights. The Monument Lighting featured a holiday village, live performances by City College Choir, Kristin Toedtman w/Peabody Community Chorus, BSO OrchKids, Harbor City Music Company, Baltimore Rock Opera Society & the Morgan State Choir.
A special guest appearance was made by R&B superstars and Baltimore’s own Dru Hill. They took the stage performing for the first time a single off their upcoming holiday album, “Christmas In Baltimore”. The entire event ended with a spectacular fireworks display and light show.

The annual Baltimore tradition was accomplished through the efforts of the Downtown Partnership of Baltimore, Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts, and the City of Baltimore.
