Highlighting Our Community: South Florida Represents – Dee Spence

Witty, charismatic, honest, trustworthy, and wise; these are all the terms I would use to describe another amazing South Florida woman of color who is dedicated to her trade and is beyond worthy of acknowledgement. Meet Dee Spence, Hairstylist & Extension Specialist based out of Miami Beach. She has lived her life and then some,  pursuing her dreams of developing her empire in the hair care industry while maintaining and building appreciative clientele in various industries.

Are you originally from Miami? If not, where are you originally from?
No, Originally Kingston, Jamaica.

How long have you lived in the city?
My family moved here in 1983, but I left a few times since then.  Have been back now for 12 years.

What are you passionate about & why?
I’m very passionate about hair care and educating women about how to properly care for their own hair, their extensions and their wigs.

What do you hope to accomplish through your talents?
I hope to own my own Beauty Empire some day.

If you had superpowers, what would your power be?
To control the weather like Storm from Xmen. 

How would/do you use your superpowers to accomplish your goals?
No more humidity driven bad hair days, LOL!!

What was your most significant achievement in 2014 (or in life)?
Definitely in life it was beating cancer.

What if anything do you hope to contribute to Miami?
To establish a foundation which donates human hair wigs to young women from childhood [through] 21 years of age.
