Day 17/30 #SMCSFblog #30daychallenge
The Good:
A small group (personal estimate of approximately 50-60 riders) took to the streets of Miami to answer the question #wherestheline. A chalk line was placed through various areas of Miami to show the location of the new sea line as predicted by the end of the century for the city. The riders, wearing elements of blue, toured downtown, Wynwood, & Brickell along the chalked waterline. The purpose of the ride was obvious: bring awareness of the issue to the foreground of the residents and individuals viewing the ride. Some of the riders even engaged in educating drivers at red lights as they ask questions about what we were doing.
The Bad:
“Miami is the #1 most vulnerable city to sea level rise. Miami’s HighWaterLine Project in partnership with the Magic City Bicycle Collective are organizing a bike ride through the streets of Miami to tour our future waterfront considering 6 feet of sea level rise projected by the end of the century.”
